What do you do with that brotherly attachment when the conversation becomes threadbare and the playful horsing around is stepped up to the level where you've grabbed someone's cock in jest just once too often? The boners start being more blatantly revealed, a friend passes out and it seems like a good idea to remove his pants, the jokes and dares escalate until a fellow frat brother opens his mouth to receive a cock.

The Frat Boys' Hurricane Party

In Michael Kirwan's world view the typical precursors to guys "experimenting" with male-on-male casual dalliances are boredom, isolation, the lack of a female presence and a healthy dose of testosterone.  What better location for these forces (and a few others such as over-familiarity, some form of inhibition suppressor such as alcohol, and peer example/permission) than a fraternity house filled with young men defying the evacuation order during a hurricane? The power goes on and off.  The windows are boarded up for the first few days providing a darkened, insular environment.  Plus the excitement and fear that a natural disaster brings all add to the prospects of dicks finding their way into forbidden territory.

The hurricane has played havoc with time and the relative safety of identity and suddenly the room goes a bit quieter as mumbling and whispering replace the shouting and loud laughter from earlier on, the sweat built up from days of limited ventilation and proximity suddenly has that extra quality of sexual heat, the odor of urine emanates from a corner where someone is pissing on an unconscious brother who has already peed himself. The stagnant air, the strange storm lighting, the familiar murmur of football coverage as the television picture is restored momentarily and is atypically ignored... unforeseen developments are suddenly possible for this pack of exhausted, drunken, horny partiers.....

Michael usually considers privacy an important component for boys to explore their  homo-instincts in his work.  So, it was an expansive effort to concoct a scenario on this scale.  He spent over a month working out the composition and incorporating as much detail as possible (all by hand) to bring "The Frat Boys' Hurricane Party" to fruition.  He says he will never do another drawing with this many individual figures and narratives because the whole exercise wore on him both emotionally and physically.  Let's hope he doesn't stick to his guns on this one.  Michael says that in no way is this a representation of an orgy.  Instead these participants are just now taking their first, tentative steps toward accepting their slightly enhanced sexual understanding.  These are a bunch of little stories crowded into a common space. What happens next? You decide.....
