Pharaoh

After the "loosy-goosy" effort that produced "Head," I wanted to do something more structured and thought that it might be interesting to attempt a faux bas relief of a character. I'm very attracted to the art and hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt, and I have always had a copy of "The Book Of The Dead" (the Papyrus of Ani) since I was a teenager. I took lots of artistic liberties (after all, I wasn't trying to pass off a forgery), but I think it still has that recognizable formality and intricacy of background to pay proper homage to the historic beauty of that period.
