O'Neill #5
I got a bunch of smaller drawing pads recently, and I've had to
adapt my vision a bit to use them properly. I'm still striving to create
a "narrative" but in these cases it's more akin to a poem than a
novella. So, my usually information-strewn backgrounds have been
sacrificed for these little guys.
While I had originally envisioned these boys under the bleachers in the
gym, I felt that would've been too involved for a background in such a
small working area. Besides, I figured that wouldn't provide the kind of
privacy this scene demanded for O’Neill to let his guard down a bit
(along with his shorts). So, I found a quiet place for them in a utility
closet or some such other rarely-visited room on school grounds. The
light shafts help to illuminate the fact that this interchange is
occurring in a darkened space — a secret domain to house an illicit
pairing.
I got off on the whole "I'll let you but technically I'm not
participating" aspect of the posturing. It's hotter for me when one
party is somewhat reluctant and relinquishing responsibility for the
activity at hand. I'm attracted to imbalanced attractions.
