Model

As many of you are already aware, I don't use models for my characters. A facial expression on the bus, a loping walk on the street, a spycam video of some Marines getting naked... these are the only references I need to formulate a "person" to draw. I think I've explained why I prefer to create my guys from scratch in a previous write-up. I'm not sure, but it seems like covered territory. So in this piece, I thought it might be a fun challenge to do a pencil drawing that appeared as if it were posed for. I think it's a pretty successful approximation of what actually having a model in front of me might produce. He looks believable even as my cartoonish approach worked it's inevitable way into the study.
