I Do/Me Too

"I Do/Me Too" [yes, I titled it when exhausted and forgot "2”] came to me while considering doing something "gay" that wasn't explicitly sexual. I put them in a supermarket because a store is all about using signage as a prime communication medium. Aisle directories, prices, packaging... it's a colorful, highly-visual, message-rich environment. It's a place where folks who would normally not cross paths, do so. With the proliferation of shirts, hats and whatnots touting pro-marriage equality, I wanted that message to be casually and accidentally affirmed/responded to in an everyday place where such an encounter might happen. It's a nice drawing. The broccoli came out nice. And finally, it’s a piece I don’t have to censor for Facebook as I aimed for something that could be publically displayed (even in your “mainstream” living room) and the viewers would have to really look into the image to get the “gay.”
